The Sash Positioning System (sPs) is designed to accomplish these goals:
- Guaranteed Automatic Sash Closure
- Increase Laboratory Safety
- Decrease Laboratory Operating Costs
- Retrofit device onto existing cable or chain drive fume hoods
- Generated Paybacks with in 2 year time period
The Sash Positioning System accomplishes these goals by using a motor to automatically drive the fume hood sash open and closed based on user presence. Laboratory Safety is increase because the closed sash provides a barrier between the fume hood work space and the lab space. The Sash Positioning System (sPs), will decrease lab operating costs when equipped on a Variable Air Volume controlled fume hood since the sash is closed and the amount of conditioned air being exhaust is reduced. Installing the sPs will generally result in a payback of 6 months to 2 years depending on the utility rates, geographic location, and size/density of fume hoods.
